Advert Idea 1

For our first attempt at our final advert, we used the double exposure technique in order to combine an image of the artist with the image of the one of the locations we filmed at. I feel that this idea has worked well as it establishes clear links between our music video and the advert itself. However, I do not believe that the image is he best image that we could have used as there is no direct address with the audience. Therefore, I will try and create an alternative idea with an image where the artist is making eye contact with the audience.

Final Advert

This is our final advert, which we have created on photoshop. Our main image of the advert is an image of our main actor which has been overlayed with an image from Seaton Carew beach - which is one area of which we filmed at. I feel that as a consequence of using an image from Seaton, it allows the target audience to establish a clear link between the advert and the music video. The advert also follows conventions from the original James Blunt's albums as a consequence of the chosen font as it is very similar to the one he uses. I feel that this is effective as it allows the audience to identify the brand identity - thus recognising the album just by the fonts used.

Rough Cut 8

In rough cut 8, we have added more lip singing shots - which we took at Seaton Carew beach. I feel this has made the video look better as it gives the video more variety of shots in different environments. I believe that this has made the video have more depth to it and follows the conventions of James Blunt's current videos - which tend to include approximately 5 different environments.

Evaluation Question 4

For question 4, we have created a Pinterest board - which we have pinned posts on how we have used each media technology in each stage: research and planning; construction as well as evaluating our final products. Please find below a link to my Pinterest board for question 4.

Lesson Update

Today we have rotated within the group to give each of us a chance to try each aspect of creating our final products. Today, we have edited our music video in pairs to help identify our thought beats as well as give an alternative opinion on what else we could include for a different variety of shots. Through doing this process, we have identified that we need to re-shoot several shots as things were in the frame that were not meant to be. Therefore, we will be adding new shots in as well as making sure the thought beats have been identified over the period of this week.

Rough Cut 7

Rough cut 7 has added to the idea of keeping to one girl, by re-shooting the scenes but with the same girl as the end and the beginning. This has helped develop a clearer narrative and make the audience aware he was not seeing two girls at once - but showing the development of their relationship over the time period.

Rough Cut 6

For this rough cut, we have changed the ending of the music video in order to change the narrative and leave it in a more amplifying way. This is because it can be inferred to represent the start of his relationship with the one girl, or it could represent them getting back together - giving a cyclical narrative.

Rough Cut 5

For rough cut 5, we have added more shots to give the music video a more clear narrative as we focus on one girl, instead of two. I feel that this works better as it has helped to improve the continuity of the edit.

Rough Cut 4

For our rough cut 4, we have edited more shots into the video, in order to create more flash back scenes. However, the thought beats have not been clearly met, which is what we will plan to improve on for next lesson.
